Codex setup

Recommended for OpenAI

Use Martini with Codex for reliable agent workflows.

Working in a terminal? Use the Martini CLI.

An agent with a shell (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI) can use the martini command instead of this connector. Every Martini tool is a command with the same name and arguments, and the agent loads no tool list up front. Install it with npm install --global @martini-film/cli, then run martini login. See the CLI guide.

Setup

Codex is the recommended OpenAI client for Martini agent workflows. OpenAI includes Codex across ChatGPT plans, although usage limits vary by plan.

  1. Open the ChatGPT desktop app, select Codex, then open Settings → MCP servers.
  2. Add a Streamable HTTP server named Martini with https://www.martini.film/mcp as its URL.
  3. Select Authenticate, sign in to Martini, then restart Codex.
  4. Type /mcp in Codex to confirm Martini is connected.

CLI or IDE setup

The ChatGPT desktop app, Codex CLI, and Codex IDE extension share the same MCP configuration.

codex mcp add martini --url https://www.martini.film/mcp

If Codex does not open the Martini sign-in flow automatically, run:

codex mcp login martini

Browser-only use

Codex Cloud runs coding tasks from a browser against connected GitHub repositories. It does not read the MCP configuration on your computer. Use the desktop app, CLI, or IDE extension for Martini’s MCP connector.

If you need a browser-only Martini conversation, use the ChatGPT setup.

Verify connection

  1. Ask “show me my latest projects.”
  2. Approve the first tool calls only after the client shows the expected Martini project or asset target.

Disconnect or revoke

Remove Martini from Codex:

codex mcp remove martini

You can also remove Martini from Settings → MCP servers in the ChatGPT desktop app.

Troubleshooting

If setup fails, confirm the server URL is https://www.martini.film/mcp, reload the client’s MCP servers, then authenticate again.
